The announcement of seasoned broadcaster Mark Shunock as the new ring announcer, replacing the renowned Lilian Garcia, is a major step forward for WWE’s SmackDown brand.

Lilian Garcia’s Departure

After the March 14th taping in Barcelona, Spain, Lilian Garcia, a well-liked figure in WWE, announced her resignation as SmackDown’s full-time ring announcer.

Garcia will continue to be associated with WWE, participating to special events like Saturday Night’s Main Event, even if she will no longer be performing her regular job. 

Mark Shunock’s Diverse Background

The addition of Mark Shunock gives WWE viewers a more seasoned voice. His long history includes hosting the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders and the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights in the arena. Shunock has also been a well-known figure in combat sports, serving as an ESPN host and commentator for Top Rank Boxing.
