Thunder Star Chet Holmgren Leaves Game vs. Warriors with Hip Injury

Thunder star Chet Holmgren was ruled out for the rest of Sunday’s game against the Golden State Warriors due to a right hip injury. The incident happened in the first quarter when Holmgren went up to defend an Andrew Wiggins drive.

After colliding in midair, Holmgren fell hard on his right side, staying down in pain before being helped off the court. He didn’t put any weight on his right leg as he left with 6:50 left in the quarter. At that point, Holmgren had recorded four rebounds but no points.

Holmgren had been a key part of the Thunder’s strong 8-1 start to the season, averaging 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks in his first nine games.

With him out, the Thunder had to rely on smaller lineups against the Warriors, as backup center Isaiah Hartenstein is also sidelined with a fractured left hand.

The Thunder will face the LA Clippers next in Oklahoma City on Monday.
