Serena Williams Reflects on Retirement, Admits She Misses Tennis

Since retiring from professional tennis over two years ago, Serena Williams, one of the most iconic athletes in sports history, admits she “misses tennis like crazy.” However, the 43-year-old has found new ways to channel her competitive spirit—through exercise, nutrition, and setting ambitious fitness goals.

Life After Tennis

Williams officially retired at the 2022 US Open, a decision that sparked widespread speculation about a potential comeback. Even the former World No. 1 herself has admitted to feeling tempted to return to the court but ultimately chose to focus on life beyond professional tennis.

In a recent interview with People Magazine, Williams shared how she has redirected her competitive energy into maintaining an active lifestyle.

“I’ve gotten more obsessed with diet and exercise than I was during my tennis career,” she said. “Back then, I knew I was burning 20,000 calories a day on the court. Now I’m like, ‘Oh my god, how many calories can I burn?’”

The 23-time Grand Slam champion revealed her latest goal: training for a half-marathon.

“I have to do something competitive. I miss tennis like crazy,” she added.

Family Comes First

Williams has been embracing family life since stepping away from the game. Shortly after retiring, she announced she was expecting her second child. In August, she welcomed her daughter, Adira, who joins seven-year-old Olympia.

Williams has emphasized the importance of staying active for her children.

“I want to be healthy for my kids,” she explained, highlighting her commitment to being present and physically active as a mother.

Building Her Business Empire

In addition to her focus on family and fitness, Williams has been busy with her venture capital fund, Serena Ventures, which she launched in 2017. The fund reflects her passion for empowering others and investing in innovative businesses, ensuring that she remains a force beyond the tennis world.

A New Chapter for a Legend

Although Williams has no plans to return to tennis, her competitive drive remains undiminished. Whether she’s setting new fitness goals or focusing on her role as a mother and entrepreneur, Serena Williams continues to inspire fans around the world with her relentless pursuit of excellence.

While she may miss the thrill of the court, Williams proves that retirement doesn’t mean slowing down—it simply means redefining success.
