Paddy Pimblett Eyes October Showdown in Abu Dhabi Following UFC 314 Triumph

Following a career-defining triumph over Michael Chandler at UFC 314, Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett is aiming for a high-profile comeback to the Octagon in Abu Dhabi this October.

The Liverpudlian’s third-round TKO victory launched him into the top 10 of the UFC lightweight class, where he is presently ranked No. 8.

Charting the Path to a Title Shot

Pimblett has outlined a clear path to becoming a contender for a championship. Later this year, he intends to fight a top-five opponent in Abu Dhabi, with former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira looming as a possible opponent.

In line with his long-term goals, a victory in this fight would put Pimblett in a position to challenge for the title in 2026.

Managing Weight Fluctuations

Pimblett, who is well-known for shifting significantly in weight between fights, recently disclosed that he had gained 42 pounds after his UFC 314 fight, weighing in at 198 pounds just over a week after the fight.

In spite of this, he intends to start training again in August in order to get back into fighting form for the tournament that is expected to take place in October.

The Road Ahead

Pimblett’s possible fight with a top contender like Oliveira might be a turning point in his pursuit of the lightweight title as the UFC prepares to return to Abu Dhabi in the fall.

“The Baddy” is positioned to have a big influence on the division’s terrain due to to his growing popularity and strategic approach.

As the lightweight division develops further, keep an eye out for formal announcements about the October card and Pimblett’s next opponent.
