Ottawa REDBLACKS Signs Defensive Back Robert Priester

By agreeing to a one-year contract with American defensive back Robert Priester, the Ottawa REDBLACKS have strategically strengthened their defense.

The 31-year-old, who was born in Tampa, Florida, has two Grey Cup wins with the Toronto Argonauts in 2022 and 2024, giving him a plethora of experience and a championship pedigree.

Professional Journey

In 2018, Priester joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, marking the start of his professional football career. He has played for the Tampa Bay Vipers of the XFL and the Edmonton Eskimos (now the Elks) over the years.

He was a key member of the Toronto Argonauts’ defense during his most memorable time there. Priester played in 11 games during the 2024 season, recording 28 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble. He also played a key role in the Argonauts’ run for the championship.

Collegiate Background

Before turning professional, Priester demonstrated his talents at the University of Wyoming. During his collegiate career, he appeared in 36 games, totaling 139 tackles, one interception, one sack, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries. He became a fearsome force in the secondary as a result of his steady performance.
