The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-2 in an exciting Game 2 of the Eastern Conference First Round, thanks to a stunning overtime goal by Max Domi.
For the first time since 2002, Toronto now leads the best-of-seven series 2-0 after this victory.

Game Recap
Morgan Rielly opened the goal early in the first period, giving the Maple Leafs a good start. Toronto’s offensive ability was demonstrated as captain John Tavares increased the lead to 2-0. The Senators, however, reacted resolutely. The game was forced into overtime as Adam Gaudette equalized in the third period after Brady Tkachuk scored in the second.
At 3:09 in the extra session, Domi took advantage of a drop feed from Simon Benoit, ducked into the slot, and beat goalkeeper Linus Ullmark’s pad with a wrist shot to give Toronto the victory.
Domi credited Benoit’s playmaking, stating, “It was a heck of a play by Benoit, he made that whole thing happen” .
Historical Significance
Since Tie Domi, Max Domi’s father, contributed to the Maple Leafs’ most recent 2-0 series lead in 2002, this triumph has sentimental significance.
In addition to helping the team succeed now, Max’s performance gives the legendary Battle of Ontario a nostalgic feel.

Looking Ahead
Game 3 of the series will now take place in Ottawa on Thursday. While the Maple Leafs want to increase their lead, the Senators will try to their home-ice advantage to close the series gap.
