Liverpool is apparently one of the clubs bidding for the January transfer of Lyon’s highly regarded offensive midfielder, Rayan Cherki. The 21-year-old French prospect has been in excellent form this season, scoring five goals and assisting seven times, making him one of Europe’s most wanted young players.
According to Foot Mercato, Cherki could be available for as little as €30 million in the winter. This price tag has piqued the curiosity of prominent clubs, with Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.
Both teams are allegedly ready to complete the deal as soon as possible in order to prevent heightened competition during the summer transfer window.
Cherki might be a great addition to Liverpool’s already impressive attacking group, which includes Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and Federico Chiesa. While manager Arne Slot has lots of options, the possible discount price for a player of Cherki’s ability and age may be too tempting to pass up.

PSG, on the other hand, may give Cherki a more prominent position in their attack. Following Kylian Mbappe’s departure in the summer, the Parisian club may seek new attacking options to strengthen Luis Enrique’s team. Staying in Ligue 1 with PSG may also help Cherki make a smoother transition while still playing at the best level.
Cherki, 21, has plenty of time to develop, and both clubs provide intriguing opportunities. Liverpool would be wise to invest €30 million in a player with enormous potential. Cherki might play a key role in PSG’s rebuilding efforts.
As the January transfer window approaches, this is a tale that should be closely followed. Will Liverpool’s ambition or PSG’s allure attract the French star? In any case, €30 million may be a great deal for one of Europe’s most promising young players.
Stay tuned for updates as the race for Rayan Cherki intensifies!
