**Will the Jaguars Be Shorthanded Against the Vikings? Trevor Lawrence Unlikely to Play**
The Jacksonville Jaguars may have a tough game ahead against the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday, and they might be without their star quarterback.NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Trevor Lawrence is “unlikely” to play this weekend due to a left shoulder injury.
Lawrence has been getting treatment and is reportedly considering options for his future, raising concerns about his availability in the weeks to come. The Jaguars’ offense has had a rough season so far. After two impressive years—where Lawrence threw for over 4,000 yards with a 65% completion rate—the 2023 season has seen his stats drop. Through nine games, Lawrence has thrown for 2,004 yards and 11 touchdowns, but he also has six interceptions and a completion rate of just 61.3%.

Currently, he’s ranked 31st in completion percentage among quarterbacks with at least 100 dropbacks. If Lawrence can’t play, the Jaguars will likely turn to Mac Jones. Acquired from New England in the offseason, Jones has yet to start a game in Jacksonville.
His career numbers are solid but mixed: in 44 games, he has thrown for 8,946 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 36 interceptions with a 66.1% completion rate. The Vikings will also be Jones’ first start behind Jacksonville’s new left tackle, as the team recently traded Cam Robinson to Minnesota. The Jaguars are dealing with other injury woes as well, with several key players still on the injury report. Missing Lawrence and others could make Sunday’s matchup a major test for Jacksonville.
