Fans Erupt in Celebration as Zelina Vega Captures First Singles Title

Zelina Vega defeated Chelsea Green to win the WWE Women’s United States Championship on the April 25, 2025, episode of WWE SmackDown, marking a significant career milestone.

This triumph, which is Vega’s first singles title in the WWE, is evidence of her tenacity and commitment to the sport.

A Hard-Fought Victory

The match was the result of Vega and Green’s recent conflicts and took place in Fort Worth, Texas. The referee leveled the playing field by ejecting Green’s partners, Piper Niven and Alba Fyre, also known as The Secret Hervice, from ringside despite their efforts to interfere.

Vega took advantage of the situation and used her trademark Code Red move to win the pinfall and the title.

An Emotional Triumph

After winning, Vega was greeted by the WWE Universe’s “You deserve it” shouts, which clearly impacted her.

She was surprised and grateful for the fans’ support, saying in an interview that it “really shocked” her and highlighted the importance of this accomplishment in her career.

A Journey of Resilience

Zelina Vega, whose real name is Thea Megan Trinidad Büdgen, is a well-known personality in the WWE who is renowned for her skill in the ring.

She held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship and won the first Queen’s Crown tournament in 2021, among other noteworthy achievements, before this singles title victory.

She faced obstacles on her way to singles gold. A significant encounter versus Rhea Ripley at Backlash 2023 resulted in defeat, but Vega had previously gone close to winning a singles crown. Her will to succeed was only strengthened by these encounters.

Looking Ahead

Vega’s triumph as the new WWE Women’s United States Champion creates new rivals and plot points.

Her victory not only represents her own success but also serves as motivation for both fans and aspiring wrestlers, proving that tenacity and diligence can result in enormous accomplishments.
