Mbappé’s Four-Goal Spree Led Madrid to 4-3 Victory Over Olympiacos

It was a night to remember at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, as Real Madrid defeated Olympiacos 4-3 in a rollercoaster of a match, thanks almost entirely to Kylian Mbappé’s incredible performance.  The French superstar scored all four of Madrid’s goals, including a hat-trick in less than seven minutes, to power a dramatic comeback victory that will be remembered for years to come.

The Turnaround: From Conceding First to Commanding the Night

Olympiacos scored first in the eighth minute through Chiquinho, catching Real Madrid off guard and putting the hosts ahead early.  The Greeks appeared to be in control, pressing hard and capitalising on their early advantage.

But Real Madrid, and particularly Mbappé, responded with ruthless speed and precision.  Mbappé turned the game on its head in six minutes and 42 seconds, scoring in the 22nd minute to level the score and again in the 24th and 29th minutes to complete one of the fastest hat-tricks in Champions League history.  By the end of the first half, Madrid led 3-1.

The turnaround was breathtaking: from trailing to leading, sparked by Mbappé’s finishing and movement.

Second Half Mayhem — Drama, Comeback, and a Nervy Finish

Olympiacos retaliated just as the Spanish giants appeared to be in control.  In the 52nd minute, Mehdi Taremi scored to cut the deficit to one, energizing the home crowd and setting the stage for a thrilling finish.

But Mbappé was not done.  In the 59th minute, he scored his fourth goal of the night, putting Madrid ahead 4-2 after a well-executed move.  The 26-year-old forward had already made his mark on the game, establishing himself as the driving force behind Madrid’s comeback.

Even so, the contest wasn’t over. Olympiacos continued to fight, and in the 81st minute, Ayoub El Kaabi pulled one back — making it 4–3 and sparking wild scenes of tension. The final 10 minutes were a test of nerves, but Real Madrid held on, claiming a vital away victory.

What This Win Means for Real Madrid

Breaking records and making history: Mbappé’s treble in 6 minutes and 42 seconds is the second fastest in UEFA Champions League history, trailing only Mohamed Salah’s 2022 effort.

Top of the scoring chart: With this match, Mbappé extends his lead as the competition’s leading scorer this season.  His four goals put him well ahead of the field.

Breaking the Greek jinx: Up until now, Real Madrid had never won away at Olympiacos.  This victory brings the club’s winless streak in Greece to an end.

Confidence restored: Madrid had gone a few games without a win in any competition; this result, delivered under pressure and away from home, could be the spark the squad needs to move forward.

Mbappé: Superstar Mode Activated

What stood out was not just Mbappé’s finishing, but also his performance under pressure.  His hat-trick came not in a burst of dominance, but in response to conceding first and facing a real threat.  He timed his runs perfectly, exploited defensive flaws, and remained calm even when the scoreboard swung wildly.

After the game, Mbappé admitted that Madrid had been put under pressure: three games without a win is “a lot for a team like us,” he said — but he also emphasised the importance of recovering.

This was more than just an excellent striker performance.  It was a statement: when it comes down to it, Mbappé can win games on his own.

What We Learned — and What to Watch Next

Real Madrid’s front-line, led by Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, played a key role in the team’s comeback.

However, their defence remains vulnerable, having conceded three goals at home, two of which came in the second half. Madrid must address this before the knockout rounds.

Despite the defeat, Olympiacos demonstrated resilience and fighting spirit, and there were many positives for the Greek side.  The comeback threat they posed until the final minutes reflects their character under pressure.

For Madrid, momentum has returned.  With this result, they solidify their position among Europe’s contenders, and with form and confidence restored, the knockout stage appears far less daunting.

Some moments stand out among the glitz and glamour of Champions League nights.  Real Madrid fans will remember November 26, 2025 as the night Mbappé transformed a Greek drama into a Spanish spectacle.  It was the kind of magic that a club with a rich history and ambition needed.
