Barcelona’s 17-year-old defender Pau Cubarsi is recovering well after sustaining a facial injury that required 10 stitches during the team’s 5-2 Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade.
Cubarsi, who made his Barcelona debut at just 16, was injured in the 67th minute when Uros Spajic’s studs caught him in the face while he attempted to clear a corner. The impact caused a deep cut, and he received immediate medical attention on the pitch before being substituted.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick reassured fans after the game, stating, “He needed stitches, but he’s fine.” The club later shared a photo of a smiling Cubarsi with the message, “I’m OK.”
Cubarsi’s swift recovery is a relief for Barcelona as they advance in the Champions League. The young defender has displayed remarkable composure since joining the first team, and his performance on Wednesday was impressive despite the injury setback.
