The Battle for New York Ends With a Bang
The New York Knicks defeated the Brooklyn Nets 113-105 in Madison Square Garden to end the 2024–25 NBA regular season in a traditional Big Apple matchup.
The game was full with pride, rivalry, and memorable performances even though it wasn’t a playoff-defining showdown for either side.

Knicks Cap Off Strong Season
After earning a playoffs ticket and hoping to gain momentum going into the tournament, the Knicks entered the game on a high note.
The Knicks demonstrated why they are regarded as a tough out in the Eastern Conference under the leadership of their All-Star forward Julius Randle and the steady hand of Jalen Brunson.
The offense remained flowing and in rhythm thanks to Brunson’s 26 points and 8 assists. With his additional 22 points and 10 rebounds, Randle gave supporters yet another look at his skill and physicality on the court.
Nets End a Tumultuous Season
On the other hand, the Nets had a poor season finale. Following a year marred by injuries and lineup changes, Brooklyn was unable to come together. Despite this, teenage guard Cam Thomas spearheaded the attack with 28 points, displaying glimpses of the kind of scoring ability that makes him one of the team’s most promising prospects going forward.
Despite strong efforts from Mikal Bridges and Nic Claxton, the club lacked the shooting capacity to compete with the Knicks in the closing minutes.
Rivalry Renewed
This game was an important turning point in the ongoing basketball rivalry between the Nets and New York, even though it didn’t have any meaningful playoff consequences. Fans of both teams take the Knicks’ victory against Brooklyn, which earned them the season series, seriously.
It felt like a sneak peek at a possible future postseason matchup, something the city hasn’t witnessed in years, with Madison Square Garden humming and both fan bases completely involved.

Looking Ahead
Expectations are higher than ever for the Knicks as all eyes turn to the playoffs. Whether this team has what it takes to go far in the postseason is still up in the air.
In contrast, the Nets have a number of concerns going into the offseason. Will Bridges and Thomas continue to be the focus of construction? Is a significant trade imminent? The summer months will be busy for the front office.
